OTRart “transforming waste into art"
It is an initiative of the Creative Europe Programme that addresses the problems of waste in the Mediterranean through creative and transformative artistic expressions.
The project responds to the growing problem of waste and garbage dumps in the Mediterranean and involves 6 countries: Greece, Italy, Spain, France, Croatia and Malta.
Project context : The project aims to raise public awareness and encourage the adoption of European environmental policies through art. Global waste crisis due to population growth, rising living standards and increased plastic production.
Objectives :
- Raise awareness of waste management in urban, rural and marine environments.
- Promote recycling and sustainable practices through creative initiatives.
Key points :
- Artist residencies and workshops: in Greece, Italy, Spain, France, Croatia and Malta.
- Seminars: on waste and reuse.
- Innovative digital gallery: online catalogue with artworks, videos of the process and reflections from the workshops and residencies.
Sénia Territory
In May 2025, the first artists' residency on reuse in the rural environment will be held here. At the end of the project (March 2026), the final day of the project will be held in the Sénia Territory together with all partners.
